Turning community clean-up into a shared challenge.

A community clean-up MVP combining location reporting, before-and-after contributions and a proposed rewards model.

AppKhalas public landing page: “One photo. One mission. One cleaner city.”

The challenge

Public spaces accumulate litter, while many residents have the time and willingness to help but little incentive or structure for taking part. The concept explores whether participation, competition and recognition can make community clean-up more engaging.

My role

I developed the idea, product design and MVP, shaping a community experience around reporting locations, documenting contributions and recognising participation.

The solution

Users would discover or report locations needing attention, take part in clean-up activities and document before-and-after results. AI-assisted assessment is part of the intended contribution-review approach.

Key features

  • Location reporting
  • Clean-up participation
  • Before-and-after evidence
  • AI-assisted contribution review (intended approach)
  • Points, challenges and rewards (proposed model)

Intended impact

Following a funded rollout and appropriate partnerships, the platform aims to support cleaner shared spaces, strengthen community participation and complement municipal services.

AppKhalas is an MVP and is seeking investment. It is not a live municipal programme.

Points and partner benefits are a proposed model, subject to funding and partner agreements. No rewards are currently redeemable, and there is no municipal endorsement or official partnership.
